THE HAPPIEST 5K ON THE PLANET

This last week, one of my best friends and I participated in The Color Run, also known as the happiest 5k on the planet. Let me just start off and say, If you get the chance to participate in this "race", I would highly recommend it.

So, I had a few little things I'd like to say about this event then I'll share some photos of before, after, and everywhere in between.

So first I wanted to bring up the problems blondes have.
The Color run uses a coloured powder made of corn starch and natural plant based food dyes which is made in India. It is not greatly advertised enough that when blondes run the 5k or attend the finish festival, that their hair will be stained. In the FAQs, they did mention that blondes should be warned and should oil their hair up before hand, to help get some of the colour out.
They do give the tip of using bi-carb soda and anti dandruff shampoo when the colour is being stubborn.

So, that morning about 2 hours before the race, I got some all natural coconut oil and coated my hair in that. Note though: you will need to wet your hair and comb it out before you coat your hair, then once the oil is in your hair, also use a wide toothed comb to get out those knots because the oil will start to harden in the knots if you're not careful.
And this is what I went through as soon as I got home to get almost all of the colour out.
1. First I scrubbed my hair with 3 different types of shampoos. This got a large amount of the colour out, but still left a red tinge to my hair.
2. I got out the tomato sauce and absolutely went to town with that. I must say that this did help as well.
But that process did take a long time and I still had a red tinge to my hair for around 5 days.

So here's the before:
Pretty much crisp white shirts and skin

Then here's the after:
Covered from head to toe in dye

My blonde hair looks as though it's died pink.
And my hair tie had accumulated to much powder during the finish festival

And here's the end result when I was at home, some of the colour had faded.

So let me make this clear: I AM NOT SUGGESTING THAT YOU DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE COLOR RUN
In the actual fact, I am telling you to participate in it.
In life this is one thing that you should do in your life.

So give it a go, check out http://thecolorrun.com.au/ for more info on the color run destinations and information.
