"ARE YOU EATING ENOUGH?"

Eating disorders are generally quite taboo in our modern society. People can look but they can't ask, they can show concern but they can't convince, they can offer food but they can't force it down.

With a generally small frame, questions of eating disorders are bound to be asked by those close to you. "Are you eating enough?" "you're worrying me" "mission for today: eat lunch" friends and family take it upon themselves to help you to maintain a healthy weight. But to the individual, they're only making it worse - sure show concern, offer your help, but don't draw attention to the problems in their lives, it's only going to make things worse.

Teenagers nowadays are obsessed with being stick thin, because their environments and influences are only offering a "beautiful" woman image of the Victoria Secret models, with legs the length of my body. Someone with an eating disorder wants to be beautiful, they think they're not and are trying to be proactive about their image. Problem is it's not helping them in any way.

So instead of drawing attention to the obvious problem in a direct way, instead ask yourself what you'd want in their situation: a loving and supportive group, attention without the attention, and to be beautiful.
